Release Results - Rubric Assessment

March 11, 2016 Kelly Basara

Timely feedback on assessments can be provided to Exam Takers that impacts their ongoing learning experience. Releasing Results is a quick and easy way to show Exam Takers how they performed on a recent exam that enables them to monitor their own progress and make adjustments to their studying strategies.

Users may choose the specific information they want to release to Exam Takers after each assessment. The standard report will show their grade versus the class average and provide a breakdown of their performance based on categories. Alternatively, a customized report can be generated that includes more details.

Navigate to the Assessments tab. Select a Rubric
then click the Reporting/Scoring
sub-tab, and
select the Release Results option.

Select a posting and choose the Exam
Takers for whom to release the results.

Once the desired Exam Takers have been
selected, click the Next button to proceed.

A new screen will populate, where the User can select new categories manually (which will be in addition to / override the categories already selected with User Preferences), or to use the Top 25 Categories used on the assessment (based on the Dimension count). The User can also select how the Score is displayed (either as Letter Grade or as a Percentage), and to display Points, Scoring Adjustment, and/or Average Score on the report.

Within the grid, the User will be tasked with selecting options per Rubric, including the Dimension Text and Overall Comments. If the Dimension Text option is selected, the User also has the option to include Performance Level Value, Guidelines, and Grader Selections.

Once all options and categories have been finalized, Users can choose to throw out all of the options and selections and return to the previous page, to send the Exam Takers an email containing a link to the Exam Taker’s portal for viewing the report, or to post the report to the Exam Taker’s portal without notifying them that their results are ready to be viewed.

Depending on the options selected, the Exam Taker’s Strengths and Improvement Opportunities Report will be displayed with the Dimension names, column names, and color representation of the Grader’s selection per dimension, as well as any scoring options included.

The categories chosen to be included will be displayed, along with icons representing the Exam Taker’s performance versus the Course Average along the Score Range bar. This report will also display the number of questions answered correctly, and an icon representing Exam Taker performance within that category.

Performance Logic: If an Exam Taker has performed greater than 10% of the class average, they are considered to be doing well. However, if an Exam Taker has scored +/- 10% of the class average, the icon will indicate that they could use some review in that area. If the Exam Taker has scored below 10% of the average, they need improvement in this area.
